Curry, balsamic vinegar and green tea are not usually flavours you would associate with fine chocolate, but they have helped The Margaret River Chocolate Company secure a record haul of medals and trophies at this year’s Perth Royal Show chocolate competition.
The company was the dominant exhibitor at the annual event, securing five coveted first prize trophies, six gold medals and 12 silver medals.
A newly created green tea truffle was one of the trophy winners, whilst other new truffles including curry and caramelised balsamic strawberry, won gold medals.
The Margaret River Chocolate Company’s flagship premium truffle selection box also won a first prize trophy and gold medal.
The company’s gourmet bars were also a big hit with the judges, with first prize trophies for the Dark Mint and Milk Macadamia bars and silver medals for Sea Salted Caramel, Rum and Raisin and Sandalwood.
