Saving A Swan Valley Tortoise

The Margaret River Chocolate Company has joined forces with Swan Valley based community group the Friends of the Western Swamp Tortoise  (FoWST) to help save Australia’s oldest and rarest reptile.

The Western Swamp Tortoise was thought to be extinct for over 100 years until small pockets of them were discovered in a number of wetlands in Perth’s historic Swan Valley in the 1950s.

The Margaret River Chocolate Company has taken a proactive role in helping to raise awareness and funds for FoWST and has manufactured a special chocolate tortoise that will be sold at the company’s two factories in Margaret River and the Swan Valley, with a percentage of profits going to FoWST.

FoWST chairperson Jan Bant said the group was delighted to have The Margaret River Chocolate Company as a major supporter, as it would help increase awareness as well as raise funds.
